Fall is finally here!  And with it, yummy pumpkin pie, apple spiced tea, beautiful golden leaves, and ohhh that’s right! Also super dry skin…  But not necessarily if you prepare yourself with a skin care routine that will take you flawlessly from sunny summer into breezy autumn for a complexion that will make you look young, plump, and radiant even during fall’s grayest days!  


1.- Exfoliate yourself right

We’re sure summer was fun filled with lovely outdoor activities.  But that nice sunny weather has left your skin rough and dull because of the excess dead skin cells.  Even if you try to put on a super rich moisturizer, it won’t absorb as effectively because it will be laying on the top superficial layer of your face and body.  Jumpstart your fall ritual with some oil based scrub for the body and water based for your face to thoroughly smooth your skin.  Start in circular motions for increase in circulation and added radiance.


2.- Forget that soap

Soap is easy breezy because it’s right there on your sink and it smells so delicious (who doesn’t love coconut/gardenia/vanilla infused with Tahitian flowers?)  But all that fragrance and sodium laureth sulfate can be very drying on your skin especially in fall weather.  It’s time to bring out the big guns, and by big guns we mean super creamy hydrating cleansers and body washes.  These are much gentler on your skin and get rid of dust and dirt while letting you retain all the essential oil and moisture needed for healthy skin.


3.-  Reassess your skin

You think you know your skin, but do you really?  Your skin may change its type as often as there are season changes.  You may have had combination skin in the summer but fall comes around and your complexion may become sensitive and in need of different ingredients and care.  If you stay with the same products all year long, you may not only be doing yourself a disservice but it will also be the reason why you’re not seeing the results you had hoped for.  You can talk to your dermatologist, aesthetician or do an online skin type test to find out if you need a new regimen and adjust your routine in accordance.


4.-  Look for these All-Star ingredients

Some skin care products have specific formulations that work wonders during dryer months but you need to play detective and read ingredients in detail because not all moisturizers are the same, even if they all claim to be for dry skin.  Some key ingredients that are extremely potent at keeping you hydrated while having great anti-aging properties are: Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Oligo elements, Lipids and Vitamin C. These are the tried and tested ingredients that should be part of your fall regimen due to their lipid replenishing properties while assisting your body in the natural production of collagen.


5.-  Love your humidifier

Your humidifier is not just convenient when you have a cold.  It can be more useful than just helping you get better or sitting in your closet collecting dust!  It turns out this steamy gadget can do wonders for your skin.  During colder months, the skin is unable to hold on to moisture as well as it does during the.  So you need to assist it in retaining its hydration because when it gets extremely dry, our skin moisture evaporates into thin air.  Therefore, the more you can enhance the airs humidity, the more your skin will stay supple and hydrated.
